Sophos Anti-Virus
Bucks Students and Staff may download and install a copy of Sophos Antivirus on their own personal home computer. This service is provided free of charge, and comes with no support.
DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE ON PCS CONNECTED TO THE BUCKS NETWORK!
THIS IS FOR HOME USE ONLY!
Please remove any existing Anti-virus software (eg Norton, McAfee, etc) before proceeding with installation.

Troubleshooting
Updates fail with a red cross
Check to make sure you have entered your user details correctly in the update agent, and that you haven't mis-typed the address for updates. You can check you have set the updating details properly by following the steps in the next section.
Sophos stopped updating.
Have you recently changed your Bucks password? If so, you need to change the password in the update agent on your PC:
- Click Start | All Programs | Sophos | Sophos Endpoint Security and Control.
- Click Configure updating.
- Re-enter your Bucks username and password (eg '87654321' or 'jblogg01').
- Check the updating location is correct as per the documentation on the downloads page.
- Click OK, and close Sophos Antivirus.
Hints
- Remember to enter your username only, eg '87654321' or 'jblogg01'. You can test your login works by logging into Blackboard.
- Remove any existing Antivirus software first. They will fight over files and compromise system stability. Only install ONE Antivirus application at a time.
